Sorry that last week I was unable to post the weekly update. Last week and this short week have been spent focusing on our Text Structures unit in reading. We have learned about cause and effect, sequence of events, description, and compare and contrast. Next week we will continue the focus on cause and effect and problem and solution.
In writing we began talking about informational writing. The students have picked a topic they will be researching and writing their first essay on. The topic came from their narrative they wrote earlier this year. We will continue this after break also and start writing.
Reminders:
- I sent home Scholastic order forms with the students. They are due on December 2nd. If you want to order Christmas books without the students knowing just Oder online using the classroom code N7Q2M and email me to let me know so that I can keep the books back for you to come get without showing the students.
Robotics Update:
- We received our Lego League mat on Friday! We started setting it up and getting it ready for the robots. This means that Tuesday practices will be primarily programming and building from now on and Monday and Wednesday morning practices will be the primary time for researching and creating the presentations.
- We will be setting up a presentation showing soon with the students so that they can practice showing off their presentation board and skit with an audience. I will let you know when this time will be and would encourage all of you to be there. It will be in December or the beginning of January.
