Friday Update with Important Information

Happy Friday,

We had a great week in ELA and we started finishing up our first Personal Narratives. They have worked so hard on these pieces and I have been really impressed by them. This week we focused on including paragraphing correctly, how to write good beginnings, and how to format our papers. In reading we worked on making inferences, and finding themes and morals in our reading. We also started a very exciting portion of ELA this year. Each child got to vote on a book they wanted to read and they got placed into a "Book  Club". These are groups of 4-5 kids reading the same book. They will get the chance to have conversations about the book with this group and use these books to work on skills. This is a great opportunity for students to get more engaged in reading.

Next week we have some very important things going on:
Book Fair Today- Wednesday
Parent Teacher Conferences (student lead) on Monday 3-6pm come when it is convenient
Scheduled conferences are on Tuesday night  (contact us if you want a sit down)
Grade Cards come out!
MAP scores sent home on Monday night

Class Focus Next Week
Using dialogue in writing
Native American tribes of Missouri
Using clues in text to find deeper meanings (themes, morals, messages)
Meaningful book conversations
