We finished up a unit yesterday in ELA over Theme and Summary. The scores are up on Parent Portal and the students have their test graded and emailed to their school email (they should also have it written in their assignment books).
Next week we are starting both new reading and writing units. In reading we are going to be working on a Nonfiction Text Structures Unit. They will be looking at the way the author writes the nonfiction material. This includes, cause and effect, compare and contrast, description, sequence of events, and problem and solution.
Our writing unit is going to be jumping from narrative writing to informational writing. Students will learn to create a research question, elaborate on that question, do research, organize the facts and research into an interesting and well thought out informational writing piece. During this unit we will also have a focus on giving credit to where we got out information.
Robotics Update: We are getting ever closer to our CAMDENTON TRIP! We are thrilled to get the kids involved in the FLL environment and get to meet fellow student engineers. During the Tuesday practice we will give the final information out to the students.
